Auditor General Nancy Gathungu has revealed that 46 per cent of employees at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua come from one ethnic group.

Salary non-compliance

Similarly, Gathungu’s report investigated the office’s compliance with the minimum net salary rule and discovered that management had breached the law.

She observed that 42 staff members at former DP Gachagua’s office received a net salary of less than one-third of their basic salary during various months of the year.

“This was contrary to Section 19(3) of the Employment Act, 2007 which states that all deductions made by an employer from the wages or salaries of his employees at any one time shall not exceed two-thirds of such wages or salaries,” she added.
