A 27-year-old Texas woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for her involvement in the horrific death of her 5-year-old son. Nickolle Aguilar admitted to authorities that she failed to protect her child from her boyfriend’s abuse, ultimately leading to the boy’s tragic demise.

Aguilar’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Daniel Garcia, is accused of inflicting fatal injuries on the young boy. According to court testimony, Aguilar witnessed the abuse but failed to intervene, a decision she later attributed to her desperation to maintain a relationship with Garcia.

The harrowing details of the case emerged during Aguilar’s sentencing hearing. She described how Garcia subjected her son to increasingly severe punishments for minor infractions, such as not eating quickly enough or soiling himself. On the night of the fatal incident, Garcia allegedly threw the child into a wall with such force that the boy bounced off. The child subsequently vomited and died.

Aguilar and Garcia took steps to conceal the crime by burying the child’s body. However, Aguilar eventually cooperated with authorities and led them to the grave site.

Garcia is scheduled to be sentenced on August 14th and faces a maximum life sentence.
