Under 20 Rising Starlets captain Jane Hato has been found safe and sound hours after being reported missing.

Hato was reported missing on Thursday, August 15, 2024, after failing to link up with her teammates for a trip to Ethiopia.

In a statement, Mathare United Women FC on Friday, August 16, 2024, said that Hato had been found safe and sound, asking that the family be accorded privacy as they dig into details surrounding the disappearance of the player.

“Jane Hato is safe and sound. At the moment, let’s give the family some privacy as they find out what happened. We appreciate the concerns, prayers and efforts of all our fans and friends that were accorded towards Ann Aluoch family,” Mathare United Women FC stated.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Hato was expected to join her team for their journey to Ethiopia for the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifiers but did not show up.

“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has been made aware of the concerning situation involving Jane Hato, the captain of the Kenya U20 women’s national team and a player for Kenya Police FC,” FKF stated.

“Jane was expected to join her team for their journey to Ethiopia for the CAF Women’s Champions League zonal qualifiers. However, she did not arrive at the designated meeting point, and her current whereabouts are unknown. We urge anyone with information that could assist in locating Jane to come forward and contact the nearest police station, her family.”

At the time of going to press, it was not yet clear what led to her disappearance.
