A fire broke out at a section of the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) grassland along the Airport North Road on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Confirming the incident, Kenya Red Cross issued a statement via their official Facebook page stating that efforts to put off the fire are currently ongoing.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
“Emergency response teams are on-site battling a grassland fire inside JKIA, along Airport North Road, Nairobi County. Efforts are underway to contain the blaze and prevent further spread,” the statement by Kenya Red Cross reads in parts.
Multiple reports indicated that the fire which razed across the land consuming the section towards 75 Airport-North Road began on Friday evening.
