A person of interest linked to a spate of robberies in Lokichar township, Turkana County has been arrested.
According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) shared on Wednesday evening, April 9, 2025, the individual was apprehended after officers from Lokichar Police Station launched an operation based on a tip-off from members of the public.
“A 40-year-old man has been apprehended in connection with a series of robberies plaguing Lokichar township and its surroundings. Following a tip-off from members of the public, a team of officers from Lokichar Police Station launched an operation that led to Etulong’s arrest in Lokichar town,” the statement read in part.
Following the arrest in Lokichar town, the individual led officers to a residence in Kapese village. A thorough search was conducted, leading to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and seven rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.
“Upon arrest, the suspect led officers to his residence in Kapese village. There, a search led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and seven rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition,” the law enforcement officers revealed.
In addition to the firearm, police recovered several items believed to have been stolen or linked to criminal activity. These included multiple motorcycle frames, a car wash pressure pump, a solar inverter, and a white TATA double-cab vehicle bearing registration number KBT 880A.
The DCI stated that the case is currently pending before the court. All recovered items have been securely detained as exhibits as investigations continue.
“Additionally, the officers recovered multiple motorcycle frames, a car wash pressure pump, a solar inverter, a white TATA double cab, and registration KBT 880A, among other items. The case is pending before the court. Meanwhile, the recovered items have been securely detained as exhibits,” the DCI added.
