The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has alerted motorists to a scheduled traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound lanes of Mombasa Road (A8), near the Katani Road Junction.

In a public notice issued on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the authority announced a two-month closure to facilitate the installation of fabricated footbridge beams.

The affected section will be closed from Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 6.00 am.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) near Katani Road Junction will experience traffic disruption along the Mombasa-bound lanes from Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 10.00 pm to Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 6.00 am,” KeNHA announced.

“This is to allow for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams.”

KeNHA urges all road users to adhere to the traffic management measures, including following road signs, and to cooperate with the police and traffic marshals to ensure smooth flow of traffic and safety during the maintenance period.

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA stated.

It encouraged all travellers to plan their journeys accordingly and expects minimal disruption to the road network outside of the designated closure hours.

KeNHA is responsible for the management, development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of Class S, A, and B roads in the country.

Other road agencies are the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) and the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
