Kenyan Arbantone singer and Gota City rapper Stoopid Boy has revealed that his ex-lover never liked it when he kept on drinking alcohol and disclosed that the addiction was eventually the reason they severed ties.
Speaking on May 1, 2025, after YouTuber 2Mbili visited him at the Chapters Rehabilitation Centre, Stoopid Boy spoke extensively about his past life when he was lost in alcoholism and the life he now aspires to lead after he graduates from rehab, saying that he does not want to return to drinking.
This was when he divulged that having been an ardent lover of alcohol had brought him so much trouble in his past, to the extent that it cost him his relationship.
“You know something you’ve never known? Let me tell you. The one thing that always made my girlfriend and me fight was alcohol and drugs. But now I’ve made a decision with all my heart to quit. And I’ve stayed away from it for a long time now. I drank for years, but now I’ve left it behind,” he said.
Message to ex-lover
According to the ‘Jbag na Jug’ hitmaker, he has been an alcoholic for so long that he cannot precisely remember when he started the life-defeating habit, and his life only ever took a turn for the worse every time he drank.
The hitmaker then shared that he is now single, insisting that he does not want to get into a relationship any time soon once he leaves rehab.
On this, he sent a strong message to his ex-lover, stating that she should not expect him to come looking for her in hopes of rekindling their relationship.
This, Stoopid Boy said, is a desperate bid to help himself try to lead a better life.
He added that even though the ex-lover may have enjoyed his company when he was intoxicated—because he was more confident and kept her entertained—that phase of his life was over.
“First, I need to wear this white T-shirt and shout ‘Single Forever!’ Even my ex, wherever she is, should know that I’m single forever—and I’m proud of it. She knows that when I’m sober, I’m shy and barely talk. But now, by God’s grace, I’m back on track,” he added.
Fits surprise
The singer was speaking after 2Mbili and his friends paid him a surprise visit at the rehab, where they also gifted him new clothes and shoes.
The singer expressed sheer excitement upon seeing the clothes, which included a pair of Adidas Samba sneakers, and he even seemed surprised by it, saying that if he were to return to his neighbourhood wearing the shoes, his friends would easily assume he had made it big in life.
According to Stoopid Boy, that is arguably the first pair of shoes bought from a boutique that he has ever worn in his life, as he is used to wearing second-hand clothes.
“I’m thrilled, honestly. But if I walk around in these in the hood where I come from, people will say, ‘Wallahi, this guy has made it.’ This is my first pair of shoes from a shop. I’m used to thrifting from Gikosh,” he said.

Intervention
Earlier on February 5, 2025, media personality Oga Obinna called on Kenyans to recommend reputable and budget-friendly rehabilitation centres as he bid to enrol the controversial Gota City rapper.
In a post shared on his Instagram, the Obinna Live show host emphasised his commitment to helping the controversial artiste, stating that he would enrol him as soon as he identified a suitable facility.
“Any good and affordable rehabilitation centres around Nairobi for substance abuse? Comment below—I’ll visit them today so we can hook up a brother and get him back on his feet @kingpheezle,” he posted.
This came after he hosted the rapper on his show on Monday, January 2, 2025, where he asked him whether his struggle with alcohol was a long-standing issue stemming from past habits.
Stoopid Boy admitted that he was indeed battling the problem, confessing that he wanted to quit drinking but was struggling to stop.
Financial challenges
The rapper then opened up about a past relationship, revealing that he had once been with a woman who was only interested in him because of his money.
However, he explained that the woman extravagantly spent his money, leaving him broke before eventually walking out on him.
Stoopid Boy even became emotional as he recalled the various challenges he faced, including how quickly she abandoned him once his financial situation deteriorated.
“That girl is the one who always makes me angry. That lady loved me when I had money, and then I went broke. At that time, I wasn’t even making music. She left me because of the drugs—I was using too many drugs,” he lamented.
Struggles with hard drugs
The singer during the interview also disclosed that he had previously been addicted to hard drugs, a phase that significantly affected his life and played a major role in his girlfriend’s departure.
He admitted that he used to consume various pills, which he did not specifically name, but revealed that he regularly purchased them from a pharmacy for personal use, satisfying his intense craving for different substances.
However, he denied Obinna’s speculation that he was using marijuana, instead emphasising his desire to turn his life around and get back on track with his music career if given the right support.
“It wasn’t just alcohol—there were a lot of other drugs too. But I eventually quit them. I used to get them from the doctor. I would take them just to calm down. My ex was the kind of person who always had a lot to say. Then she got a job at Equity Bank, and it’s like she got married to it,” he said.
