Ruiru police commander Alex Shikondi confirmed the unfortunate incident saying the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the incident.

The rider was rescued and rushed to the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital in serious condition.

Consequently, irate boda boda operators set the vehicle, which bore Ugandan registration numbers, on fire reducing it to a shell.

Shikondi condemned the incident saying members of the public should not take the law into their own hands, he added that the i*****l act amounted to destroying evidence.

“Burning the vehicle does not help anyone since we cannot ascertain whether it had insurance cover so that the injured person can be compensated. We are left without any evidence,” the police commander said.

A young man at the scene said the incident should not be confused with Gen-Z demonstrations.

What remained of the c*r was later towed to the Ruiru police station.
