At least two people have died and three others sustained serious injuries following a fatal accident in the Kwambira area of Limuru along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the accident involved a 14-seater van that was reportedly speeding when it attempted to overtake another vehicle.
The manoeuvre went awry, causing the van to overturn and veer off the road.
“The van was moving at high speed and when the driver tried to overtake, he lost control, and the vehicle rolled several times,” an eyewitness explained.
The two victims, whose identities have not yet been disclosed, were confirmed dead at the scene, while three other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
Footage from the accident site showed firefighters working to clear the wreckage and spraying the road with water to clean up spilt fluids.
Traffic along the busy highway was temporarily disrupted as emergency responders worked to clear the accident site and assist the injured.
Police officers at the scene managed traffic and towed the mangled van away for further investigation.
