Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi on Monday, March 3, 2025, defended President William Ruto’s handsome donation to the Jesus Winner Ministry, Roysambu, Nairobi.

Speaking during the K24 morning show, the vocal MP noted that Ruto gave the money not as president but as a churchgoer.

She commented in response to K24 host Ian Keitany’s questions whether Ruto defied his directive which barred public servants from public harambees.

However, Elachi insisted that Ruto gave the money from his pocket as a normal believer and not in his capacity as the head of state.

“He said ‘I will bring it me, William Ruto, not as the President of Kenya. He then went on and said, I will look for my friends, and we shall do the harambee. Now wait for the harambee with his friends.

“You should be asking yourself, is he speaking as the president or as a churchgoer?” Elachi posed.

Castigate Christians

The Dagoretti North MP further reprimanded a section of Christians, accusing them of being too judgemental. Unlike Muslims, Elachi claimed that some Christians were only focusing on the negative side of everything.

“Christians have become so judgemental, some of us wonder what this thing in the Quran is that is so different, because they would build and do everything, and you will never hear anything,” Elachi stated.

“Help Christians to know how to do things because we vilify, we are judgemental and we are good than the others.”

Ruto’s donation

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Ruto threw faithful at Jesus Winner Ministry, Roysambu, into hysteria after he promised them a multi-million donation to aid their church’s construction.

The president therefore stated he will give Ksh20 million from his pockets to propel the church’s intended construction, promising a further donation at an upcoming harambee for the facility.

“I have accepted to come and do harambee together and in that harambee, I will go make arrangements with my friends; we look for Ksh100 million and bring it here,” the head of state told the crowd that had gone berserk while chanting “Ruto! Ruto!”

“We will build this church so that we shame our political enemies.”

He wondered why a section of the clergy criticized his donations, even rejecting them, when the offering was meant for God, not man.
