Dennis Okari has opened up about his short-lived marriage to media personality Betty Kyalo. Speaking in a candid interview, the journalist admitted that their relationship was not built on the right foundation and ultimately was not meant to be.
Okari revealed that he met Betty while working at KTN.
She was an intern at the time, and he took on the role of mentoring her. Their friendship grew, leading to a four-year relationship that resulted in the birth of their daughter.
Why did Dennis Okari and Betty Kyalo Marry?
Faced with the reality of having a child out of wedlock, Okari felt pressure to make things official.
“It was always my dream and desire to do a wedding first before having kids,” he shared. However, he admitted that deep down, he had doubts about the decision.
“Inside my spirit, I felt this was not the right way to correct things. I didn’t consult God,” he said.
Despite his efforts to make the marriage work, cracks started to appear. “I was pushing my weight around everything, trying to force it to work,” Okari explained.
Over time, they began drifting apart, and the marriage quickly fell apart, within only six months.
The public scrutiny that followed took a toll on him. He withdrew from social media and struggled with deep personal battles. “I got into depression,” he admitted.
In his journey to healing, Okari sought divine guidance.
“God told me to get off social media for a year,” he shared. During this time, he focused on his faith and found clarity. “That marriage was not of God. She was not really my wife, and I was not her husband,” he concluded.
Today, Okari, who has since remarried, says his healing came through serving God. He believes that everything happened for a reason and has since moved forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
