The former manager of celebrated Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz, Ostaz Juma Namusoma, has dismissed swirling claims that their fallout—and the bitter beef that followed—was triggered by Diamond snatching a woman he was dating.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with YouTuber Trudy Kitui on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Ostaz opened up about the good old days when his friendship with the ‘Baba Lao’ hitmaker was at its peak, emphasising that the real reason for their falling out was Diamond’s inflated sense of pride and self-importance after achieving massive success.
According to him, the issue had absolutely nothing to do with a woman but rather with the discomfort of maintaining a friendship with someone who constantly acted like a know-it-all and carried himself as if he had reached the top of the world.
“Our friendship isn’t what it used to be back in the day. Things have changed. The problem is it’s been a long time, and the man started acting like he knows everything. So I told myself, I can’t keep hanging around someone who thinks he’s always right and knows it all.”
Juma went on to stress that if the matter were about stealing someone’s lover, it would have likely been him doing the snatching, not the other way round, and confidently stated that, if anything, he was the true G.O.A.T. in such matters.
“He could never, not even once, get away with stealing my woman. If anything, I’m the one who could take his girl. And honestly, I wouldn’t mind—we’re compatible.”
Zuchu affair
In the same interview, Juma also addressed his earlier controversial remarks made during a Tanzanian radio interview, where he shared he had set his eyes on dethroning Diamond from his relationship with songbird Zuhura Othman, popularly known as Zuchu.
He reiterated that his plans to marry her were still in motion, revealing that the motivation behind his mission to win her heart stemmed from what he described as Zuchu’s suffering under fake love.
According to Juma, she deserves genuine affection—and he’s the man to give it.
“The reason is because she sings so beautifully. I truly feel sorry for her because she’s being mistreated emotionally, and she’s really going through a lot in that relationship. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to rescue her. Can’t you see how she complains and hurts all the time? We’re here to save her.”
Juma further claimed that Zuchu had also shown interest in marrying him and dismissed claims that he was the only one chasing after her, asserting instead that the feelings were mutual.
Although he declined to confirm whether the two are currently in communication, Juma maintained that everyone will be shocked when they finally go public with their marriage announcement.
“I can’t reveal whether we’re currently talking. There are people who don’t wish her well, and that’s why I’d rather not say too much. But when the time for the wedding comes, I will let you know. I’ll surprise both Tanzanians and Kenyans.”
New Zuchu
While gushing about how beautiful their love story would be, Juma also revealed plans to implement some changes, starting with how she dresses, aimed at restoring Zuchu’s image as a respected, God-fearing artiste known for elegance and modesty.
He said one of his top priorities would be to encourage her to ditch revealing clothing during performances and embrace a more refined image, insisting that none of this will be forced upon her.
“I’m a man, and she’s a woman, so of course, there’s mutual desire. We’re planning to get married when God wills. I’m changing her environment and guiding her towards more respectful dressing—those crazy antics of performing half-naked will be gone. She will be God-fearing and do music with dignity. Love cannot be forced. In short, I’m a grown man, and I understand exactly what she wants—marriage—and I’ll give her that,” he concluded.
