Former Nominated MCA, Carren Atieno Muga, was arrested by police in Kapsabet after being linked to a suspected organ trafficking syndicate.
Her arrest comes after her son was identified as the prime suspect in a brutal murder case that has rocked Chemase, Nandi County.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), Atieno’s son is the prime suspect in the grisly murder of Enock Kipsang, who was found beheaded and dismembered.
The victim’s private parts were also chopped off. And in what the police suspect may be linked to a human organ trafficking operation.
The murder has drawn widespread outrage. Another suspect in the case, identified as Victor Kimutai, was arrested by the police.

But, on January 2, 2025, an angry mob stormed the Chemase Police Post where Kimutai was being held.
The crowd overpowered the police officers, dragged the suspect out. And lynched him before setting his body on fire.
The mob also torched a Ford Ranger police vehicle during the violent incident.
Following the incident, Carren Atieno Muga, fearing for her safety, fled her home after learning of the raid.
She was arrested while attempting to escape along the Chemelil-Miwani-Kisumu road. Police also impounded her Toyota Harrier, which she had been using to flee the area.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities launching a manhunt for other suspects involved in the murder and suspected trafficking activities.
