It is now emerging that Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was named as the party leader of the Farmers Party, despite being impeached and subsequently banned from holding public office.

One of the major changes within the party was the leadership transition from Irungu Nyakera to Ferdinand Waititu. Additionally, the deputy leadership saw a shift, with John Wambugu replacing Brian Kigochi in the policy and strategy department.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Ikui retained his position as Deputy Party Leader for Resource Mobilisation, while Thomas Omboga remained the national chairperson.

In the notice dated February 5, 2025, the Registrar of Political Parties called on anyone with concerns or objections regarding the leadership changes to submit a written complaint within seven days of the Gazette’s publication.

“Any person with written submissions concerning the intended changes by the political party shall within seven (7) days from the date of this publication make their written submissions to the Registrar of Political Parties,” indicated the notice.
