Kenyan socialite and beauty mogul Huddah Monroe has called on politicians to focus on delivering services to the public instead of prematurely campaigning for the 2027 general elections.

Taking to her Instagram stories, Huddah expressed concern over what she perceives as a growing political frenzy that appears to overshadow the urgent needs of ordinary Kenyans. She lamented that while politicians seem preoccupied with campaigns, essential services remain neglected, especially as the rainy season approaches.

“It’s like elections are happening next year the way things are moving. Meanwhile, the rainy season is upon us. We just need roads and good drainage. Potholes fixed. Whatever politicians do doesn’t warrant any more blood being spilt in Kenya. God’s got us,” Huddah stated.

Huddah’s remarks come just two months after she declared her indifference towards Kenyan politics. During a Q&A session on Instagram on Sunday, February 9, 2025, a fan asked her opinion on who she thought would become Kenya’s next president.

“Honestly, I do not care about Kenyan ‘politricks’ anymore,” she responded.

The socialite, who has often used her social media platforms to comment on political matters, was once a vocal supporter of President William Ruto. However, her support waned in 2024 when she became one of his harshest critics, openly challenging his leadership and direction.

Caution

In November 2024, Huddah cautioned her followers against electing leaders from impoverished backgrounds unless they had proven their leadership abilities by successfully running businesses. She argued that individuals without such experience often struggle with governance.

“Now you know, never give power to the son of a poor man! Unless he has built successful businesses. They wouldn’t know what to do with it,” Huddah remarked. She also admitted she had made a mistake in previously supporting President Ruto, acknowledging that she had backed the wrong candidate.

“I placed the wrong bet. I was one of those people who shamelessly advocated for ‘Must Go’,” she reflected.

Huddah’s endorsement of Ruto dates back to 2017, when she voiced confidence in his leadership abilities and his straightforward approach to governance.

“I’d rather have a Ruto presidency. The man doesn’t play these cat-and-mouse games. We wouldn’t be in this position in a Moi era. Sometimes a dictator is best,” she emphasized.
