Kenya Airways announces flight delays at JKIA due to thick fog

Kenya Airways has issued a notice informing customers of expected delays in certain flight departures and arrivals.

In a statement shared via their official X handle on Thursday, April 17, 2025, the national carrier detailed that this is due to poor visibility caused by fog this morning. 

The airline went on to disclose that some of the flights scheduled to land at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were diverted to Kilimanajaro and Mombasa. 

This measure according to the airline is aimed at ensuring the well-being of the crew and customers. 

“We wish to inform our customers that due to poor visibility caused by fog this morning, some of our flights scheduled to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were diverted to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro. 

“The diversions were a safety measure to ensure the well-being of our crew and customers, which is our number one priority. As a result, we expect some delays today for certain flight departures and arrivals,” the statement reads in parts.

Continuing the statement, the airline apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused, providing a suppport line for customers to get assistance.
