Kenya Power disclosed to its customers in the county that the electricity supply would be unavailable from 8:30 am to 5 pm.

According to the notice, the outage will mainly hit the Referral Hospital and adjacent customers.

Following the planned system maintenance, various activities will be disrupted throughout the day for over 8 hours. Businesses that depend on electricity in the area will be disrupted and normal activities in the referral hospital.

However, the utility firm has apologised for the inconvenience that the maintenance exercise would cause.

No power rationing

The notice listing only one area set to experience electricity interruptions aligns with the recent statement issued by the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) which ruled power out power rationing in the country in the coming months even as long as rains subside.

KenGen attributed the development to key installations at the Seven Forks dams in Embu and Machakos counties.

Further, the electricity-generating firm highlighted that its management has allowed the company to maintain optimal dam levels, ensuring that hydroelectric power generation continues uninterrupted throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.

“As KenGen, we have taken significant steps to manage our water resources efficiently. This means that even in the dry seasons, we can continue to produce clean and affordable hydroelectric power, which remains a vital component of the national grid,” KenGen Managing Director Peter Njenga stated.

KenGen further ruled out price hiking in the coming months.
