Kitutu Chache MP Anthony Kibagendi has hit out at the Kenya Kwanza government, citing its perpetual reference to the past regime as a depletion of creativity on its part.

Speaking during a live interview on Monday, April 28, 2025, the youthful MP criticised Ruto’s administration for constantly citing empty coffers upon assuming office, describing it as a blame game and a government focused more on excuses than on pragmatism.

The MP contends that the government should take responsibility to address and improve the situations facing Kenyans instead of merely complaining.

“We have a regime that has depleted creativity. They are stuck in a blame game and continually blame either the former regime or empty coffers for the failings. They also laid blame on the opposition with claims that they are stifling the government agenda. They later complained about taxes, the judiciary and Gen Zs during the Maandamano,” he said.

The MP further dismissed the talks of Kenya’s improving economy, emphasising that ordinary Kenyans have little to show for the economic situation of the country.

“When we are the biggest economy in East and Central Africa, that doesn’t translate to improved lives for people. It’s embarrassing to speak of Kenya being the biggest economy in the region with excitement when our education and health systems are in tatters. While we inherited all these, we should have done better, but we are regressing in matters of NHIF, SHA, education, and many others, where the fraud has increased,” he stated.

Kaibagendi also waded into the attacks directed at the fourth president of Kenya by a section of the government officials, terming the criticism as baseless.

“We continue to sink into debt when we can focus on urgent and practical issues. This regime should desist from excuses and scapegoating. President Uhuru Kenyatta made no mistake in encouraging the youth to step up. I also encourage the young people to register and get ID cards and voters’ cards. We have to get this government out of power,“ he concluded.

Speaking during the Guild Leaders Summit 2025 at Makerere University on Thursday, April 24, 2025, Uhuru urged African countries to forge their path, observing that the international community continues to grow inward in their priorities.

“You are the last line of defence in the battle to rescue the heart and soul of Africa for the sake of the future generations,” Uhuru said.

“No one is coming to save us, and as the world turns increasingly inward, the places to seek refuge are rapidly disappearing.”

During the address to policymakers, student leaders, and academic stakeholders from across East Africa at Makerere University of Uganda, Uhuru also underscored the urgent need for integrity-driven leadership and self-reliance to navigate the continent’s pressing challenges.
