National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s father Dominic had mourners laughing and nodding in agreement as he shared stories during the burial of his second wife, Ann Nanyama.
His mix of humor and honesty turned a somber occasion into one filled with heartfelt moments.
The elderly man revealed he had two wives, each of whom gave him 15 children.
“God blessed me with 15 children with my two wives—15 with each. Some have passed away,” he said.
He went on to talk about his late wives with fondness.
“Mungu ameninyang’anya my darlings wote akaenda nao (God took all my darling wives),” he said, adding that he now considers himself a “senior bachelor.”
The bachelor life, however, comes with its own set of challenges.
“In this old age, there are ladies here salivating for me, but I want to state that I am not interested in them at all.” he joked.
“Staki bibi yeyote (I do not want a wife).” His comment had everyone in stitches.
While he might not want another wife, he’s got his sights set on a bigger goal—living past 106 years, the age his grandfather reached.
“I want to break that record,” he declared with a grin.
As the mourners laughed and cheered him on, his message was clear: life may be full of ups and downs, but a little humor and resilience can make all the difference.
