Kenyan comedians David Oyando, alias Mulamwah, and Steve Thompson Maghana, widely known as Oga Obinna, have sparked their first public online feud, trading sharp jabs and heated remarks in full view of their fans.

What began as light-hearted shade quickly spiralled into a fiery exchange, with both entertainers airing grievances and clapping back at each other in a digital showdown that’s taken social media by storm.

Genesis of the beef

It all started with Obinna sharing the reason for not attending Mulamwah‘s comedy show, noting he had been blocked on Instagram and did not get an invite.

Speaking during an interview with K24 TV on April 23, 2025, Obinna explained that he learnt of the event like everyone else online but was surprised to find out he had been blocked by Mulamwah, leaving him in the dark about the show altogether.

“I was not invited. Also, I was doing the content creators and Wasani’s match; we were raising funds for charity. Personally, I do not have beef with Mulamwah, even though I realised that day of the event he had blocked me,” Obinna said.

Mulamwah’s response

In his response to why he blocked Obinna, Mulamwah shared a video on his Instagram account of Obinna and Dem Wa Facebook discussing a fan’s comment about his son on their previous Weekly show, which did not please him.

The former radio presenter further claimed that while Obinna might have forgotten the cause of their fallout, it was still fresh in his mind.

Mwenye alikunia kwa barabara husahau, lakini mwenye alikanyaga hatawai sahau.Tofali ulikulia hapa,Mulamwah explained.

Hours later, he doubled down with a video, openly expressing his resentment toward Obinna and criticising his character.

In the clip, Mulamwah slammed Obinna for constantly offering unsolicited opinions on everything happening in the entertainment scene.

You like being at the centre of everything, ukona maoni ya kila kitu. Harusi imefanywa; you want to be the centre. Show inawekwa; you want to be the centre of it. Wacha watu wengine wa shine in the moment,” Mulamwah slammed Obinna.

Clarifying why he failed to invite Obinna to his stand-up show, Mulamwah noted that the show was open to all, including Obinna, and that a personal invitation was not necessary, adding that he (Obinna) could have bought a ticket and attended, as it was not a private event.

Mulamwah went on to remind Obinna that he is not special enough to be invited to the show, noting that his real supporters showed up.

Show ni ticket mtu akisha weka poster amemaliza hakuna mainvite – it is not a private thing. So silazima ukuwe pale ndio ifanyike, mimi watu wangu kuna wenye wananiaminia na najua unashanga sana nilijaza ajae,” he explained.

He also explained why he skipped Obinna’s interview, accusing him of constantly offering unsolicited opinions, a behaviour Mulamwah says he strongly disapproves of.

Uliniita interview sikukuja ni kwa sababu vitu unafanyanga pale, uko na opinion ya kila kitu . Not that we have nothing to say; we are just staying silent… Try staying silent for a week without mentioning anyone. You are not an artiste,” Mulamwah added.

Obinna on the beef

On his side, the digital content creator revealed that he has no problem with Mulamwah despite being blocked by the latter.

“This is what happened with the Mulamwah situation. I did not know I was blocked by Mulamwah, and I did not know he had beef with me until I started working with Dem wa Facebook,” he explained.

“Later on, I found out I was blocked because of a video we did on a weekly show. The weekly show is a comedy show. Also, I did not say it, and Dem wa Facebook did not say she was just passing information.”
