Kenyan comedian David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah, has come forward to recall a shocking moment when a bitter social media user wished death upon his newborn child.
Speaking during an interview on a local television station on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Mulamwah shared that he could scarcely believe his own eyes when he saw the comment and wondered whether something was seriously amiss with the particular netizen.
“You post a child, and then someone tells you, ‘They will die anyway,’ so you are left wondering—how did we even get here?” he posed.
Recalling the exact moment, Mulamwah emphasised that he was not fabricating the story, insisting that a netizen had indeed wished such a terrible fate upon his son. He revealed that he even had screenshots of the comment and had previously taken to social media to address it.
He shared that people often behave in such a manner because they misinterpret others’ posts, assuming that when someone shares a photo of their child, they are doing so out of arrogance or as a means to show off.
For this reason, he stressed that people need to refrain from being overly judgemental about others’ social media posts, adding that only through such a shift in mentality could online platforms rid themselves of such hateful remarks.
“Some of this hatred simply does not make sense. You cannot hate someone to this extent. You get blessed with a child, post them and celebrate, and then people say that once you get a child, you have “revealed” them.
“Many people have children and post them. It is just that you know me, so you think I am posting for you. But I am doing it for my own good—I am not posting for your sake. I have screenshots. There was even a time I spoke about it a lot,” he said.
Consequences
However, the comedian asserted that what such haters fail to realise is that the negative energy they direct towards celebrities ultimately returns to them.
He insisted that life operates like a mirror and that the ill wishes people cast upon others often come back to haunt them, even going as far as to say that those who had wished death upon his child would be shocked to find that the same fate had befallen their own families.
“I was like, do not cross those boundaries; you are hurting yourself, not me, not the child, not anyone else. Life is like a mirror—it all comes back to you. You may find the same fate befalling them, yet they wished it on me. But it is what it is, yeah,” he added.
Bundle of joy
The former Milele FM presenter and his partner, Ruth K, welcomed their child, Oyando Junior, on February 10, 2024, and they have since been sharing heartwarming photos and videos documenting his growth.
Exactly a year after their baby’s birth, on February 17, 2025, Mulamwah decided to officially propose to his girlfriend, Ruth K, in a post where she flaunted an expensive-looking ring he had given her.
The mother of one also shared adorable snapshots of her hand, showcasing her red-and-white acrylic nails while proudly displaying the ring. She further delighted fans with a video of the ring inside its box, surrounded by roses, before Mulamwah slipped it onto her finger.
On his part, Mulamwah took to his Instagram page to share the same photos, captioning them with admiration, stating that cute fingers like Ruth K’s deserved to be adorned with rings, adding heart and kiss emojis.
The comedian also shared photos of the bouquets of flowers he had gifted Ruth during the proposal and later went to her post to reply with heart emojis.
The couple has undeniably been one of the hottest topics in town, thanks to their public relationship and constant displays of affection in the form of sweet, lovey-dovey snapshots that leave fans swooning.
Ruth K, known online as Mama Kalamz, was not a widely recognised figure on the internet until Mulamwah introduced her as his girlfriend, initially claiming she was merely his “bestie.”
Since then, Ruth has risen to prominence as a digital content creator, launching her own YouTube channel, which has now amassed over 150,000 subscribers.
According to Mulamwah, the two first crossed paths in 2021 at a hardware store in Kitale, where Ruth worked as an attendant.
Mulamwah had been there purchasing supplies for his Kitale mansion, and that was when they struck up a connection.
They soon began sharing affectionate videos, leading fans to speculate whether they were truly just friends, as Mulamwah initially insisted. However, the comedian later clarified that Ruth was, in fact, his girlfriend.
He explained that despite the online drama, he preferred to refer to her as his “bestie” because he found it more romantic.
Their relationship has blossomed over time, and they have even ventured into business together.
