Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has called on Kenyans to embrace honesty, integrity, and renewed commitment to values that strengthen the nation, as the country marks Easter Sunday.
In his Easter message shared on April 20, 2025, Muturi underscored the importance of aligning beliefs with actions, warning against a culture of double-speak and convenience-driven posturing.
He stressed that integrity should be the guiding principle for both leaders and ordinary citizens.
“This Easter, we are reminded that belief must be lived, not just spoken. Let us be a people who speak what we believe, not what is convenient. Our nation needs less double-speak and more honesty, less posturing and more truth,” Muturi stated.
He noted that the Easter season serves as a time for reflection and spiritual renewal, encouraging Kenyans to use the opportunity to recommit themselves to truth, service, and values that strengthen the nation.
Addressing the current political climate in the country, Muturi reiterated his recent calls for integrity and accountability among the political class.
“Whether in leadership or daily life, integrity must guide our words and actions. May this season renew our commitment to truth, service, and the values that hold us together,” he concluded.
Leaders share Easter reflections
Muturi’s sentiments echoed those of other leaders who also delivered Easter messages focused on unity, hope, and national healing.
President William Ruto, in a brief message posted on his official X account on April 20, 2025, offered a blessing to families and Christians observing the resurrection of Christ.
“May this Easter bring you renewed hope and joy, just as the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought new life to the world,” Ruto wrote.
Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi used the occasion to reflect on Africa’s need for peace and reconciliation.
He spoke of Easter as a reminder of hope born from suffering, urging citizens to draw strength from the resurrection story.
“This Easter, we are reminded that out of suffering, salvation comes. That, from the silence of the tomb, new life rises. And that no night, no matter how long, can overcome the promise of dawn,” Mudavadi stated on April 18, 2025.
“As Christians around the world mark the resurrection of Christ, we are called not only to rejoice but also to reflect,” he added.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka also encouraged Kenyans to use the Easter holidays for introspection and spiritual renewal, asserting that the season should remind citizens of the sacrifices made for the nation and serve as an invitation to national reflection.
“Let this be a period of spiritual rebirth and national awareness. Wishing you all a blessed Easter,” Kalonzo stated in his address.
