Media personality Steve Thompson Maghana, better known as Oga Obinna, stormed out of an interview at a local radio station on Friday, April 25, 2025, after being cornered to address the simmering beef between him and comedian David Oyando, popularly known as Mulamwah.
Despite the high energy the Obinna Weekly Show host exuded as he walked into the station’s studio, the vibe quickly soured, and his mood took a nosedive after the presenter hosting him refused to honour his request to steer clear of their brewing feud.
Tensions flared when the presenter reminded Obinna that online chatter suggested he had instigated a vendetta with Mulamwah by talking about him on his show only after noticing he was trending, accusing him of chasing clout to boost his content.
“People have been saying that you’re the type who clings onto shows a lot. The moment someone starts trending, you latch on. You immediately jump into stories about them. What’s your issue with Mulamwah exactly?” the presenter asked.
However, the question clearly rubbed Obinna the wrong way, prompting a sharp clapback in which he warned the host not to mention the comedian’s name in his presence again.
He insisted he was uncomfortable discussing such issues and pressed that the interview should focus on more significant topics and personalities.
“I don’t wanna talk about that story right now. Let’s talk about important things, and let’s talk about important people. I don’t want to backbite people,” Obinna said.
But the statement didn’t sit well with the young presenter either, who fired back, asking if that meant Mulamwah was not an important person since Obinna had urged them to avoid unimportant people.
The interview quickly spiralled, and Obinna completely lost his cool, launching into a tirade where he branded Mulamwah a bully who had also bad-mouthed other media personalities.
At one point, he defended himself against Mulamwah’s earlier claim that he had blocked him because he contributed to a segment on his show that had shaded his young son and clarified that he was not the one who had thrown shade at the child.
“Even when I speak, I see that people twist what I say. And the person we’re talking about—he’s a bully. Isn’t he the same guy who insulted Kamene and said all sorts of things? Now when his own son is mentioned in a story, he gets angry. I wasn’t even the one who said it. In fact, I was just there, and people were telling me what was being said online. It’s not like we sat down and planned to talk about this person. Let’s talk about my show,” he said, visibly agitated.
Despite the tense tone Obinna used to deliver his remarks, the presenter refused to let the matter rest.
Upon reintroducing the topic again, Obinna turned back, thanked the DJ, and instructed his bodyguard, Vicker Munene, to walk him out of the studio.
Nasty beef
The two comedians sparked the beef, which was their first public feud, on Thursday, April 24, 2025, trading sharp jabs and heated remarks in full view of their fans.
What began as light-hearted shade quickly spiralled into a fiery exchange, with both entertainers airing grievances and clapping back at each other in a digital showdown that’s taken social media by storm.
Genesis of the beef
It all started with Obinna sharing the reason for not attending Mulamwah‘s comedy show, noting he had been blocked on Instagram and did not get an invite.
Speaking during an interview with K24 TV on April 23, 2025, Obinna explained that he learnt of the event like everyone else online but was surprised to find out he had been blocked by Mulamwah, leaving him in the dark about the show altogether.
“I was not invited. Also, I was doing the content creators and Wasani’s match; we were raising funds for charity. Personally, I do not have beef with Mulamwah, even though I realised that day of the event he had blocked me,” Obinna said.
Mulamwah’s response
In his response to why he blocked Obinna, Mulamwah shared a video on his Instagram account of Obinna and Dem Wa Facebook discussing a fan’s comment about his son on their previous Weekly show, which did not please him.
The former radio presenter further claimed that while Obinna might have forgotten the cause of their fallout, it was still fresh in his mind.
“Mwenye alikunia kwa barabara husahau, lakini mwenye alikanyaga hatawai sahau.Tofali ulikulia hapa,” Mulamwah explained.
Hours later, he doubled down with a video, openly expressing his resentment toward Obinna and criticising his character.
In the clip, Mulamwah slammed Obinna for constantly offering unsolicited opinions on everything happening in the entertainment scene.
“You like being at the centre of everything, ukona maoni ya kila kitu. Harusi imefanywa; you want to be the centre. Show inawekwa; you want to be the centre of it. Wacha watu wengine wa shine in the moment,” Mulamwah slammed Obinna.
Clarifying why he failed to invite Obinna to his stand-up show, Mulamwah noted that the show was open to all, including Obinna, and that a personal invitation was not necessary, adding that he (Obinna) could have bought a ticket and attended, as it was not a private event.
