Kapseret MP Oscar Sunday, April 13, 2025, created a scene at PCEA Githurai Church in Kiambu after defying a directive by the church bishop.
The MP, who had attended the church for a funds drive for the construction of a new church, had been directed by the church pastor Simon Mwai not to give a political speech, and not to reveal the amount in contributions he had, whether his or from friends.
“We have our PCEA MPs and we love them but when they come to the church, they just say ‘thank you, we are happy to be here’. Also, because I know you have come with money, do not tell us how much you are giving. Just come with an envelop, even if it’s the president’s. The Bible says that whatever your hand gives the other hand should not know and that is very serious,” the pastor said.
“We do not want to reveal the money we are going to give to build that church and then Jesus will say one day we were showing off.”
However, when the outspoken MP took to the church podium, he made his contribution of Ksh2 million public, alongside contributions from some of his friends in the political circle.
Sudi mentioned that Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah contributed Ksh200,000 for the church and an unidentified Omondi Ksh500,000, among others.
Sudi also gave the choir Ksh200,000, urging them to make good uniforms.
According to Sudi, his church contributions are solely from his friends and not other suspicious sources as speculated by Kenyans.
“When I was coming here I called some friends who made the contributions. Sometimes people mistake us, claiming that Sudi gave Ksh20 million. I you have no network, keep quiet. Please forgive me pastor. I I do not give to church I feel bad.”
