Mandera North Member of Parliament (MP) Bashir Abdullahi has issued a scathing response in regard to the Blood Parliament documentary which revealed the chilling details of the General-Z led protests last year.

Speaking from Parliament on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the legislator fiercely condemned BBC over the viral documentary, accusing them of turning a blind to internal matters in their country and worldwide issues such as the war in Gaza among others.

The MP went on state that the documentary, which has since amassed over 2 million views on YouTube, is aimed at discriminating and defaming the country, to jeopardize progress.

He also took a swipe at the Kenyan media for airing the story, accusing them of blatantly disregarding what he described as mischevious reporting aimed at degrading the country.

“BBC has attended to this matter in a way that also looks at the Kenyan society as something discriminatory sort of. It looked like our media stations also picked it up without questioning how BBC aired the stories. It happens all over, people are killed, we sympathize, we move on, it is world over,” he said.

Continuing his spiel, Bashir argued that it was pointless to discern the matter as it was already fully discussed nationwide and in parliament and that Kenya had already moved on from the deaths of those who lost their lives, to reconcile the country.

“Let us not always clap hands at foreigners for what they are doing. That documentary was run by BBC World Service and it is being run through our national media stations, and it talks about the events that happened on June 25th, a very sad day in deed, tragic and shameful in the sense that we lost lives of our fellow Kenyans; shameful that the democracy of our parliament was about to be infringed and nevertheless it has come at this time; a time that we have really moved on, we spoke about that issue in this house, discussed it, sympathized, mourned our fellow Kenyans who passed on that day; However, it has come at this time again, as much as we agree that our fellow Kenyans lost their lives unfortunately, we also moved on to ensure that we reconcile the country as we move on,” he said.

The documentray which meticulously revealed finer details of what transpired including unmasking the shooters who gunned down unarmed civilians as they breached Parliament in protest against the controversial Finance Bill 2024 has continued to attract sharp criticism from Kenyans and members of the political divide.

Titled ‘Blood Parliament’, the 37-minute exposé, released on YouTube on Monday, 28 April 2025, reconstructs the events of that fateful day, employing 3D modelling, forensic video analysis, and eyewitness accounts to assemble the details of the shootings that shocked the nation.
