Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, May 2, graced the lavish wedding of the former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi at the Ol Tukai Lodge in Amboseli.
In a statement through his office, Uhuru revealed that the private ceremony was attended by close friends, family, and a host of dignitaries.
“Former President Uhuru Kenyatta graced the wedding ceremony of Ivy and Kimoi, held in Ol Tukai Lodge, Amboseli. Kimoi, the son of Gideon Moi, and Ivy, the daughter of Mr and Mrs Melly, celebrated their union in a joyous event attended by family, friends, and dignitaries,” the statement read.

The former Baringo senator also blessed the union and welcomed his daughter-in-law to the family, stating that she is cherished and adored.
“My wife Zahra and I are proud as parents watching our son, James Kimoi, exchanging vows today with the love of his life, Ivy Meli, and making a life-long commitment to be a loving, supportive, present, and intentional husband,” Moi said.
“As a family, we welcome Ivy into our fold. We cherish and adore her as our daughter. May God bless their union and grant them the grace to walk this journey of love together.”
Kalonzo in attendance
The colourful ceremony was also attended by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, who wished the couple a blissful union as they tied the knot in the presence of close family and friends.
“Today, I had the honour of joining my brother, (former) Senator Gideon Moi, and his family at the breathtaking Amboseli National Park to witness the wonderful wedding of his son, James Kimoi, and his beautiful wife, Ivy Meli,” Kalonzo remarked.
“Witnessing James and Ivy join hands was a lovely and unique event, made even more memorable by the presence of my good friend, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, the Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya,” he stated.
Adding: “My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple as they begin this wonderful journey together. May your love deepen with every day you spend together.”
Kigen Moi
The ceremony brought together Uhuru and Kalonzo after the two met on December 7, 2024, during the wedding ceremony of Kalonzo’s daughter Damarie Saada and Martin Nyaga in Naivasha.
The wedding also comes two years after Gideon Moi’s other son Kigen tied the knot with her lover Rebecca Chepchumba in a private ceremony in Kericho County.
“I am proud of my son Kigen Moi for making a monumental stride in this life by seeking Rebecca Chepchumba’s hand in marriage. Indeed, this engagement is a beautiful social and spiritual venture ordained by God to ensure companionship and continuity,” Moi stated at the time.
