Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has said that women in Mombasa find him more attractive in person than in photos.
In a lighthearted post shared on his Instagram on Saturday, April 19, 2025, Salasya, who has been in search of a soulmate, revealed that several women in Mombasa had complimented his looks during his visit to the coastal city.
According to the youthful and ever-cheerful lawmaker, the women were pleasantly surprised by his appearance and said that photos and videos don’t do him justice.
“Mbona wasichana wa Mombasa wanasema I look handsome in person, it’s like camera hunitoa mbaya,” Salasya stated.
Bachelorhood and women
This comes weeks after he publicly urged women who believe they have a child with him to come forward.
In a post shared on his Instagram on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Salasya asked any woman who suspects she has his child to present the child to him.
“Any woman who thinks and believes she has my child should bring that child to me by Wednesday next week,” Salasya declared.
The youthful lawmaker has often been in the spotlight for his romantic pursuits, which haven’t been very successful. His past efforts to woo well-known personalities such as socialite Huddah Monroe and content creator Azziad Nasenya were met with rejection, as both women turned him down publicly.
More recently, Salasya made headlines after expressing interest in up-and-coming content creator Cera Imani.
Despite receiving backlash and mixed feedback regarding his antics on social media, Salasya defended his actions, insisting they were all in good fun.
In an interview on a local radio station on February 12, 2025, he downplayed the criticism, saying his online flirtations were nothing serious and should be viewed purely as entertainment.
“Iyo ni kiki na mbwembwe. It is good to always have fun. And it’s good to appreciate what God has created for us,” Salasya stated.
He went on to advise women who might be eyeing him romantically to be patient, explaining that his responsibilities as a Member of Parliament leave him with little time for a serious relationship.
“Naweza kuwaambia tuendelee kuwa wapole, watulivu. Kwa sababu unaweza kunitamani lakini kunipata ndo shida. Kwa sababu I am too busy. Niko na majukumu kwa sasa,” he said.
Salasya further shared that while he encourages young men in his Mumias East constituency to settle down and start families, he considers himself an exception. He noted that his position as an MP demands a lot from him, which explains why he remains unmarried.
“Niliwaambia vijana kwa constituency yangu ambao wametoshea kuuoa, waoe kwa sababu kila mtu lazima akue na majukumu. Mimi peke yake ndiye nimeruhusiwa kutooa katika eneo bunge la Mumias Mashariki kwa sasa kwa sababu nina majukumu mengi,” he said.
Adding;
“Ikifika huo wakati wa kuoa, nitaoa wanawake watatu maana wanawake ni wengi kushinda wanaume, kwa sai nina majukumu mengi,” Salasya remarked.
In yet another interview, Salasya opened up about the kind of partner he would consider settling down with. He said he’s looking for someone driven and goal-oriented, but also willing to embrace a humble rural lifestyle. He expressed reservations about dating women who are used to the fast-paced city life, especially those living in Nairobi.
He mentioned that friends had advised him to consider women working as teachers or bankers, claiming such professions tend to be less stressful when it comes to relationships.
Salasya also made some controversial comments about dating virgins. He admitted he wasn’t interested in being a woman’s first sexual partner, saying he found the responsibility overwhelming. Instead, he joked that he would rather the woman gain some experience elsewhere before coming back to him.
“When I realise she is a virgin, I will allow her to go have another man to break her virginity and come back to me. I hate to labour to break a woman for another man hehe…though sisi vienyeji we are better at breaking virgins than born town who are very weak on the bed,” he said
