The Social Health Authority (SHA) is experiencing a glitch on its toll-free line.
In a statement on Friday, February 28, 2025, SHA said that its team was working to restore the line, asking Kenyans to use alternative means to communicate with the agency.
“We’re currently experiencing a technical issue with our 147 toll-free line, and our teams are working to resolve it as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can still reach us on our alternative toll-free number: 0800 720 601. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience,” SHA stated.
This comes amid several glitches that have affected the SHA system, with some hospitals unable to render services at times following several failures of the system.
In January 2025, the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) experienced a two-day outage that disrupted patient care and administrative processes.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused to our patients and their families. KNH is fully committed to ensuring that all pending cases are resolved. As Kenya’s leading referral hospital, we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of care and professionalism,” KNH CEO Evanson Kamuri said after the system was restored on January 16, 2025.
Early this month, Director-General for Health Patrick Amoth said patients seeking medical services under SHA could be experiencing challenges because of a crucial omission during their registration process.
Amoth said that not all Kenyans registered with SHA can access services at designated facilities because they have yet to complete means testing.
“One challenge that we are facing is not many of our people who register through the process complete it in its entirety to the point of doing the means testing.” Amoth said.
