In a heartfelt tribute, Kenyan musician Stephen Otieno Adera, better known as Stevo Simple Boy, has expressed his deep gratitude to his close friend and music partner, Geoffrey Machabe, as they mark one year of their bond.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Thursday, May 1, 2025, Stevo shared a moving message, reflecting on how Machabe has been a constant support in his life, especially during his lowest moments.
In addition, the Freshi Baridi hitmaker expressed that he would never forget how Machabe stood by him, sheltered him, and believed in him when others turned away.
He described Machabe as more than just a friend but family, thanking him for his loyalty, heart, and talent.
“Today marks exactly one year since you came into my life when I was at my lowest. Machabe, I will never forget how you stood by me, gave me shelter, and believed in me when many turned away,” Stevo wrote.
“You have been more than just a friend—you have been family. Thank you for your loyalty, your heart, and your talent.”
Stevo Simple Boy also hoped for more years of growth, music, and brotherhood with Machabe and wished him God’s blessings.
“As we celebrate this one-year journey, I look forward to many more years of growth, music, and brotherhood. God bless you always,” Stevo concluded, giving a nod to the promising future that lies ahead for both of them.
Their one-year celebration marks a special milestone, but for Stevo, it is a reminder of the importance of genuine friendships that stand the test of time. It is clear that this brotherhood is built on more than just shared success; it is rooted in mutual respect, unwavering support, and a bond that will continue to grow in the years to come.
Stevo and Machabe’s brotherhood
In July 2024, Stevo introduced Machabe as a signee under his label, Stevo Simple Boy Empire, at a time when the singer was going through a rough patch following his public fallout with long-time manager Chingi Boy Mstadi.
Previously an aspiring gospel artiste, Machabe was signed by Stevo just days after he hosted him at his house in Kasarani, following his financial struggles, which had been exacerbated by his fallout with his manager.
During an interview a week after the signing, Stevo explained that he had chosen to work with him as a way of reciprocating the kindness he had once been shown, while also aiming to give his career a fresh start.
“I have signed a gospel artiste. His name is Machabe. He is a talented musician. I am so grateful to Stevo. He has been helping wholeheartedly. I believe this is the best move for my music career. We have even done a collaboration, and Stevo is so supportive of promoting the song,” he said.
