Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has appealed to parents to take their children to Sunday schools to help them be nurtured and understand basic tenets in Christianity.

Speaking on Saturday, April 19, 2025, the vocal lawmaker claimed that most of those opposed to church donations from President William Ruto and his allies did not attend Sunday school.

He referred to the incident in Nairobi’s Roysambu, where hundreds of protesters gathered demanding Bishop Edward Mwai of the Jesus Winner Ministry church surrender a Ksh20 million donation from the head of state.

Sudi insisted that those who staged the protests did not attend Sunday school.

Mkiona wale wanapinga kanisani hata wale watoto wetu walikuwa wanasema wanaenda kujaribu kurudisha pesa katika ile kanisa ya Kasarani ni kwa sababu wazazi wao hawakuwapeleka Sunday school,” Sudi stated.

Naomba kila mzazi ikiwezekana peleka mtoto wako Sunday school, peleka mtoto wako kanisani atajua maana ya kanisa na atajua taratibu ya kuenda mbinguni,” he added.

Which loosely translates to: “If you see those opposing the church, like those kids who said that they wanted to ask the church in Kasarani to return the donation, it is because their parents did not take them to Sunday school,” Sudi stated.

“I ask every parent if possible take their children to Sunday school, take them to church they will understand the importance of the church and the procedures to heaven,” he added.

Response to Gachagua

Sudi made the sentiments in response to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who claimed that he handed Ksh2 million to the PCEA Church to silence it from speaking against the government.

While dismissing Gachagua’s sentiments, Sudi accused the former second in command of concentrating on minor issues instead of turning attention on matters affecting the nation.

“You know, this is why Gachagua is home. He was unable to lead Kenyans. I saw him stand and claim that I was sent with Ksh2 million to PCEA church to quell them,” the Kapseret MP stated.

“I want to tell Gachagua that for your information, the work that I have done in church within Kapseret, you cannot do, if Mrs Dorcas leaves you, you are a big crook.”

Nonetheless, he vowed to continue contributing to the churches.
