From the information we have gathered, about two men approached Belvin who used to drive a light Canter Truck on Friday, April 4, 2025 and told him that they were traveling to Shibuyunji to buy meat and that they would later call him to pick them up once they had bought the meat.
However, the men who hired Belvin were actually cattle rustlers. Once they were in Shibuyunji, they invaded one Kraal around midnight and killed cows indiscriminately before they carried the carcasses to a nearby bush. But unbeknownst to the criminals, the owner of the cattle knew what was happening and mobilized other villagers through WhatsApp who then tracked the criminals and found them busy skinning the cows.
It is alleged that the villagers apprehended the men and ordered them to call Belvin and tell him that the meat was ready for pick up and transported to Lusaka.
Without knowing what was happening, Belvin travelled to Shibuyunji were he was met by an angry mob around midnight. The mob descended on the cattle rustlers and Belvin and beat them to death before they burnt their bodies and the canter truck.
Belvin has been described by those who knew him as a kind soul who brought laughter, peace and comfort to those around him.
At the time of his death, Belvin was serving as Vice Youth Leader of Amazing Discoveries under Makeni Seventh-Day Adventist Mission District.
We thought of shedding some light on this sad story and hope it gets the attention it deserves. If Belvin was an innocent participant, we hope those who had a hand in his brutal death are brought to justice.
