A section of leaders drawn from Wajir and Mandera counties have come out to castigate Dela Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein over his recent claims that Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi was involved in his abduction.

The leadership from both counties strongly condemned the MCA over his comments dismissing them as wrong and unfounded as they called on relevant authorities to conduct further investigations regarding his dissapearance.

While dismissing the accusations, they also affirmed that they were going to resolve the matter legally and on their own social structures.

“We condemn the utterances of Ahmed Yusuf regarding the unfortunate accusation against the governor of Wajir, we feel for the MCA and the harrowing incident he has gone through for six months, we also condemn his arrest and dissapearance. We are asking for investigations into his dissapearance by relevant agencies.

“We have deliberated on his statement and as a community we feel that was wrong, the accusations were unfounded and we are going resolve that issue through both legal means and our own social structures,” they said.

The MCA who had been detained and held incommunicado for six months having being abducted in September 2024, fingered Governor Abdullahi for his woes, asserting that he orchestrated and executed his abduction.

“I arrived in Nairobi on 12th September, 2024 waiting to meet the Governor on 15th to discuss about the county budget and find solution. Unfortunately, on 13th I was abducted while leaving South C… the abductors were armed with AK47… I was kept in detention for six months until 8th when I was released and dropped at Pangani,” he narrated.

He explained that his firm stance on the 2024 Wajir County budget was the cause of his abduction.

“My encounter with my abductors and everything that happened while I was in detention, had the hand of Wajir Governor Ahmed Mohamed…everything that happened revolved around my relationship with the governor,” he said.
